Enclosure Inside an Enclosure

So I've been taking an armoire and prepping it for my new panther from Chameleon Paradise. I've been working on this project (very slowly) for a few months and have held off due to vacation etc. Anyway, Bruce from Chameleon Paradise helped me out a great deal and so I ended up getting a smaller all screen enclosure and I'm just going to set it in my big armoire enclosure. I figure its already water proofed, has the lights set up and everything so I'll just keep the smaller one in there until he can take over the whole space. I have cut holes in the top for my 36" quad lamp set up from light your reptiles as well as a heat lamp. I also built a ramp from 1/4" plywood sloping off 3/4" square dowels that will give a grade so the water runs to my drain. I Thompsons water sealed the whole thing and I'm ready to receive my new friend tomorrow! I'll update as this progresses and I fill the enclosure better, but I'm leaving the armoire bare until he's ready to take over the whole area. Also I have an umbrella and pothos that will go in to fill more space and give him some security. Hope you all enjoy, let me know if you see any issues!

I think it will look great. Especially with the live plants in there. You might want to add some branches going horizontally across, though. Are you going to use a misting system? If you are, I recommend the mistking. It's great!

Thanks Chap

Thanks, I hope it turns out as well as I envision it! I do have a mistking system so we are on the same page! I still need to put a drain in the bottom, but I have the hole for my mist nozzle in the front of the enclosure so hopefully most of the spray will stay inside since it will be aimed towards the rear to cover the cage. My cham was supposed to arrive yesterday, but it has been way too hot here in Kansas. the heat index was something like 106-109* so Bruce didn't want to ship (which I agree it's worth waiting a little longer to ensure his safety). It looks like it will cool off enough midweek next week so hopefully I'll get him by then. I'll add some lateral braches as you suggested before he comes. I cannot wait to get him! My little guy was sired by Cowboy at Chameleon Paradise so I'm hoping he gets the same great yellows and blues as his dad as he ages!
Make it a great day everyone,
Jordan

Yeah, you definitely won't want that little guy arriving in hot weather like that. But best of luck with your cage, and I hope that your panther will arrive safely. Keep us updated!
Have a good day,
Kaia

LOVE this is such a cool idea! Looks good so far! Bruce! I just got my little guy on Wednesday from him and he did mention he couldn't ship later in the week because of the heat. He's super helpful and FULL of information! Great guy, you won't be disappointed with your chameleon! Who was the sire for yours? I got a male sired by Candy Cane but I really liked Cowboy too!

Cham Tomorrow!

Thanks WowBango! Bruce has truly been a world of help! I've had reptiles since I was a little kid, but a chameleon is new to me and he has really eased many of my concerns! Mine was sired by Cowboy, I really liked the yellows and blues together. Hopefully he will develop similar colors! I'll definitely post pictures of my new friend when he comes in tomorrow as well as the main enclosure as I wrap up the final touches. At this point the hardest thing is getting the armoire from the garage up to the second floor! A decent sized buddy and I couldn't get up the entry stairs much less up to the second floor! I have another friend that will come help the two of us so it will be up in a few days. For now he'll just be in the smaller enclosure until we get the main one up there. I can't wait for him to come in tomorrow! It hasn't even really sunk in that he will actually be here finally after such a long time researching and waiting!

Shipment Notification!!!

I have been sent the FedEx shipping label so he is for sure going to be here tomorrow!!! So excited to meet him and I'm jealous of my wife, who is off tomorrow, will be the one to pick him up. I'm definitely going home over lunch to see him!!!

Pictures to follow tomorrow!
